UNCERTAIN GERMANIC TRIBES, Pseudo-Imperial coinage. Late 3rd-early 4th centuries. 'Aureus' (Subaeratus, 20 mm, 5.00 g, 12 h), 'Tetrarchic Securitas Group A'. Imitating Maximianus, 286-305. MAXMIANVS AVGVSTVS Laureate head of Maximianus to left. Rev. SECVRIT[AS S]AECVLI Securitas seated left, holding scepter in her right hand and leaning her head on her left. Holed and with very minor breaks in plating, otherwise, nearly very fine.

From the Aurum Barbarorum Collection.

This coin combines a tetrarchic obverse of Maximianus with a reverse of Probus (Calicó 4189-4198). Like Aurum Barbarorum II, 1918, its dies were cut by a perfectly literate artist.
